A badge that paid nothing

Bemol customers earned medals for shopping, and the medals did nothing. They were decoration on a profile. The project turned them into a real rewards programme: five customer tiers built on purchase history, points convertible into store credit, and benefits that exist outside the screen (free Wi-Fi in physical stores, interest-free instalment plans, extended warranty).

Two days that decided everything

The interface was the easy part. What made the programme work was a two-day discovery with product, engineering, QA and marketing (stakeholder mapping, CSD matrix, user journey, business and customer KPIs), where the tiers, point values and benefits were agreed by everyone who would have to honour them.

A rewards programme is a promise the whole company makes. Drawing screens before the incentives were settled would have produced a beautiful interface for rules nobody had signed off.
